Spiderman in God's Plan

December 09, 2019

¡Hola y'all!

This week in Santa Ana was SO GOOD!! We actually had a bunch of lessons this week bc we found 3 whole new people to teach and they're all so cool. I love them. One of them is the precious 9 year old named Edurado that wants to get baptized super bad. He's so dang smart and definitely keeps us on our toes with all of his random deep questions. And actually, it was so funny during one of our lessons this week with him bc we were talking about the Plan of Salvation (God's plan for us) and the role that Adam and Eve had in it, and he just looks at me and is like "hold on, you're reminding me of a superhero'" and then he runs over to his Lego set and grabs a little Spiderman. He said that in the Avengers Infinity War movie, Spiderman decides to go with the other superheroes even though they told him not to, but that it actually ends up being good bc he helped them. So basically, Adam and Eve are like Spiderman! I literally love this kid oh my gosh hahah he's the best!

December 3rd was our friend Manuel's cumpleaños so we celebrated by going and getting some tacos at his favorite taco place:) Then he showed us his record and CD collection. Holy cow y'all, this man literally has thousands of them. And they're all bops too like he has all the classic stuff so we were able to bond over some Styx and Beach Boys and things like that bc my grandpa loves all that stuff too.

Also this week we were able to do some service with Red Cross at a blood drive place and it was so fun:) We just were talking to all the people whenever they were done, and there was this one dude telling me about his daughter that was the main person in charge of the international humanitarian effort of Red Cross. He was saying that she's traveled all around the world just helping people and that sounds like my DREAM. It's seriously so cool talking to people about their lives and their stories, I love it.

And okay, we had Zone Conference this week too and it was sooo good as always. We talked about how important faith is, and also how people can be so genuinely touched through service:)

Also, I just want to share a few scriptures that I was reading this week that I really loved.
- Acts 17:27-28 says "...though He be not far from every one of us: For in him we live, and move, and have our being"
- 1 Nephi 20:18 says that if we follow the Lord's commandments we will have "peace [like] a river"
- 1 Nephi 21:15-16 says "Yet will I not forget thee. . . Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands"

More than I know anything else, I know that our Heavenly Father and our Savior Jesus Christ love us each more than we can understand. Like it says in Acts, God is right here for us, forever and always. And I have truly felt the peace that Nephi talks about that comes from keeping His commandments and recognizing the love that he so freely gives us. And that last scripture really just hits home every time I read it. Jesus literally has scars on the palms of His hands for me, and for you, and for every single person. He will never forget us, He will never leave us, He is our constant peace and comfort. And while this is the perfect time of year to remember these things, it's super important to remember them all the time!!

But yeah I LOVE being a missionary and I LOVE Jesus and I LOVE California and I LOVE all of y'all too!! Thanks for reading this whole email haha sorry it's kind of long, but I hope everyone has an amazing week!!

Con Amor,
Hermana Brayton:)
