Who You Are and What You Stand For" -G

October 7,2019

¡Holaaaaa Y'all!

What's up everyone? All good things I hope, bc Jesus loves you :) This week was kind of a wild one so sit tight for the recap:

-On Tuesday we were just walking along, as missionaries do, and we saw this lady pulling weeds in her yard and asked her if she needed help. SO we pulled weeds in our dresses for about an hour, learned a ton about this girl's life, and then she gave us some avocados off her little avocado tree. Such a fun time :)
-We met a guy from Slovakia who took some Russian in school, so I was pumped to say two out of the three Russian phrases I know to him.
-Wednesday we met up with our friend Tony who we actually stopped teaching about a month ago, and y'all he has completely changed his life and it is so so cool! I am SO excited to see what's going to happen these next few weeks with him.
-We went to institute down on Cal State Fullerton's campus and that was honestly a party. It was just a bunch of college kids all learning about Jesus, and I am here for it.
-Friday we played volleyball with out friends for the last time and that was SAD!
-This weekend was General Conference, but I'll get back to that later:)
-Sunday we went by to see Fifi and I literally love that girl with my whole heart. She kept saying how sometimes she get lonely bc her kids and grandkids are super busy and it broke my heart everytime. So PLEASE y'all make time for the people you love, even if it's just a phone call :)
-Lastly and certainly not least, HERMANA HINTON IS LEAVING ME. She got called to be a Sister Training Leader, and she's literally going to be the best ever :') But bc of that and bc I'm officially done with training (whoop whoop) I'm getting a new companion tomorrow! I'm excited though, a new perspective is always good :)

Okay okay so most of y'all know that General Conference was this weekend, (which is when the Prophet and Apostles and others prepare talks and messages for everyone in the whole wide world, and we get to watch it on TV or online) and it was SO GOOD! I love President Nelson, and I know for surely he is called of God. A big thing that I took out of it was that we all need to remember WHO WE ARE. I love what Elder M. Russell Ballard said, that we are "first and foremost" spiritual beings, CHILDREN of GOD. By knowing that we are all truly children of God, we will be able to also recognize who we can become and what we are capable of. I know we are all capable of so much more than we give ourselves credit, and there are so many unimaginable blessings coming our way Hans T. Boom said that to help ourselves and others realize who we are, we should "create an environment of love where others can feel empowered." I'm 100% here for empowering people, bc honestly everyone deserves to know their worth and divine potential. And if any of you know my sweet Grandpa down in SC, you've heard "remember who you are and what you stand for," and that my friends is exactly what we need to do :)

Two more quick quotes that I loved are that "The joy we feel in our lives has little to do with our circumstance, and everything to do with our focus," and also that "In the world, we will face tribulation, but Jesus Christ has overcome the world." I just think those two go perfectly together, bc it's so true that there are some really hard things that happen in our lives that would make it very easy to be sad and bitter all the time. BUT when we focus on the never-ending, unconditional love that Jesus Christ has for us, we can feel true and lasting joy :)

I love love love y'all so much, and really truly I could go on forever about conference, but this email is already long and it would be better to hear it firsthand for yourselves anyways ;) Have a great week everyone les amo muchisimo!!
