Look at Life

June 29, 2020

¡hola y'all!!

How is everyone doing this week? Amazing I hope:) Right now Hermana Hansen and I are j chillin at this beautiful park in the California sun, really here living our best lives, so let me tell y'all about the week:

First of all, the people we're teaching here in Buena Park are so awesome. The Martinez kids are actually the coolest kids I know and I just love that they love reading the Book of Mormon with us bc it's a party. Also we started teaching two new amigos named Cecilia and Ronald and they're too sweet. It's a mom and her son, and we didn't have a ton of time to get to know them but we're going over there again today so stay tuned:)

This week we had our last little conference with President and Sister Golden:( I'm really going to miss them a ton, but I'm excited to see what the future holds with President Platt! But during our conference, the main theme was becoming lifelong disciples of Jesus Christ. I love the idea of "becoming" bc to me it means never being complacent, like we're always trying to get closer to the person God knows we can be and we start to see more and more of our true divine potential. And what else is more perfect to become than a believer and follower of our perfect Older Brother and Friend? I've realized that in order to really become and lifelong disciple, we have to think about it everyday and take steps toward it everyday. But if we mess up one day (which probably we will), we shake it off and try a little hard the next day. Your potential is unknown and unlimited and so divine. God knows it bc He knows you, and He'll help you to become the greatest disciple you can become:)

So hey, I love y'all a whole bunch! I hope everyone has an amazing week!

Con amor,
Hermana Brayton:)

¡holaaaa y'all!

I hope everyone is doing so so well bc life is really just so good. This week was crazy!! I can't remember how much I explained in my last email, but now with my new assignments to help out some other missionaries and also run a handful of Facebook pages, things are way busier than they were before but I am lovvving it. I had my first few meetings that go along with these assignments, and I already know it's going to be such a party. I get to work so much more with other missionaries and I get to share my ideas and opinions way more, plus listening to others people's ideas and opinions. It's a blast.

Since we've been so busy with those things though, we didn't have a ton of time to talk to amigos that aren't missionaries, but the ones that we did talk to are the coolest ever. We have the Martinez family and then Brandy and her family and they are the BEST. We had dinner with Brandy's family for Father's Day yesterday, and that was my first time having real real Mexican food in a hot little minute and it was sooooo good wow.

Today for my ~pequeño~ spiritual thought, we're going to dive right into one of the best stories in the Book of Mormon: Abinadi. If you haven't heard of him before, he was an incredibly faithful and diligent prophet who never denied what he knew to be true. He preached to so many wicked people and tried to help save them, but they never listened, and eventually the king of this land sentenced Abinadi to be killed if he didn't take back his preachings. Bc of his great faith of course he didn't take back what he had taught. He knew it was true, and he knew that God knew it was true. "BUT THERE WAS ONE among them whose name was Alma. . . and he believed the words which Abinadi has spoken" (Mosiah 16:2). I don't want to spoil the whole story here, but basically what happened was Alma, the ONE who listened and believed Abinadi, was changed. Then after acting on what he heard and believed, he changed the world of the Lamanites. He was only one person. Abinadi was only one person. But their faith and actions will never, ever, ever be forgotten. Jesus Christ was one person. Actually he was the Only Begotten One son of God. The difference he made changed not only the world, but eternity. You are one person. I am one person. Our potential to change the world is unlimited, but only if we act upon it. By touching the life of only ONE person and showing genuine love each day, the world will not stay the same. It will constantly get better:)

But hey, I love y'all a whole whole bunch and I hope you never forget it! Also if you go and read through Abinadi and his story, let me know! I'd love to hear your thoughts:) (and if you need a Book of Mormon first I know where you can get one!!)

Con amor,
Hermana Brayton:)

¡Adiós Orange!!!

June 16, 2020

How is everyone doing?? So good I hope:) Sorry this email is coming out a day late, things are pretty crazy over so our prep day got moved to today. But siii after just a short 6 weeks in Orange, I got moved here to Buena Park! I'm so so excited to be here
bc I'm going to be with one of my favorite hermanas here, Hermana Hansen, and we're going to be working a lot with the Sisters around us and helping them out some!

This week wasn't super busy, but I was able to go to one of the first "in-person"meetings in f o r e v e r for some new leader training, so that was fun. And we were able to actually go to our ward mission leader's house on Sunday for a little at home church thing. It was sooo nice to just be able to talk to people face to face wow.

ALSO the coolest coolest thing ever happened this week!! I was able to meet one of the men who taught and baptized my grandparents in New York almost 50 years ago! It just so
happened that he and his wife live right here in Orange County, and things just worked out so perfectly for us to go see them! They were so so sweet and it was such an amazing,
unforgettable experience.

Sorry I don't have a ton of time (who's surprised) so this one is pretty short, but I love y'all a whole bunch!! Stay happy and share your love and remember Jesus loves you!!

Con Amor,
Hermana Brayton:)
